In June 2004, the Governor appointed the Governor's Task Force on Medical Malpractice and Health Care Access. The Task Force is to conduct a comprehensive review of Maryland's growing crisis of medical malpractice insurance rates, and consider such options as tort system reform, patient safety initiatives, insurance reform, and alternative dispute resolution.
