    In Maryland, when a mandatory bank holiday differs from the corresponding federal holiday, a banking institution shall be closed on one holiday and may be closed on both. When there is no corresponding federal holiday for one of the following mandatory bank holidays, a banking institution may open or close on that day (Code Financial Institutions Article, sec. 5-705).

    When a legal holiday differs from the corresponding federal holiday, a banking institution may be closed on both holidays.

      *If the U.S. Congress designates another day for observance, the day named by Congress becomes the legal date.

      **When a holiday falls on a Saturday, it is observed the Friday before. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the observance is on the following Monday.
